Herkimer is a place near New York in America where the stone is found. This stone provides an energy of delicate harmony. We learnt about candle meditations last week, where we focused our attention on the flame in front of us on the table. We used tea lights with a few sandalwood essential oil drops in the molten wax at the top.
We closed our eyes and visualized the flickering flame. By doing this we put our every day thoughts to one side and get into the 'zone'.
We learnt to extend the aura to encompass the candle and when ready we willed it to stay still, get taller or flicker. This it did.
This was done for about 10 minutes, relaxing the mind, and reaching that place of calm within us.
Afterwards, I asked the members to close their eyes, visualize a door in their mind's eye and open it, open it into a lovely colourful garden with plenty of flowers, a gravel path and a warm sunny day. The noise of water is close by, with a bench. After a while of taking in the detail of the flowers, herbs and the like, take a seat and rest a while.
Soon, you notice someone walking towards you and they sit by your side.......
At the feedback stage, some group members didn't want anyone to sit with them, as they wanted to be in the peace and quiet. One lady said that it was her brother and he talks tooo much, so she told him to go away!
Another lady said that she had been with people all day, so it was nice to be on her own.
One lady saw her late mum, who sat by the side of her and they talked. She also saw her late dad, who came to give his support.
All of them had a lovely time and said that they would do this again at home.

It's our last week of meditation this evening and I am looking forward to the session. Tonight we will be doing a candle meditation and I can let you know how that goes next week.
We covered using crystals in our healing meditation last week. We had our yoga mats and crystal healing net layouts at the ready. Once settled, lying on the floor with the crystals in the desired pattern around our bodies we were lead into a lovely healing visualization meditation.
The members chose either the 7 chakra layout or the Amethyst layout. All said that they had a wonderful experience, as crystals amplify their energy when in our own energy fields, naturally harmonizing the vibrations of the body.
As the members lay in their crystal nets, I went around the room to measure their energy fields, all were about a meter, 1.2m or even 1.8m from the floor and all were pretty strong.
One lady said that she felt a pleasant burning sensation in her neck and shoulders, which is her problem area for holding tension. Another lady said that she felt tingling in her hands and fingers, after sometime, she acknowledged that she was suffering from tendonitis about a week ago. Another lady had to lift up her head to see where I was, as she felt her stomach being gently massaged!
We all agreed that this session was really beneficial and that the members will do more of this in their own time at home.

During our meditation class this week we covered at mantras, mala beads and affirmations. A word such as peace or harmony, or health and happiness can be repeated over and over again to bring the heart rate down and so lessen the tension we feel when anxious. I found this particularly useful when needing to get to the airport but was stuck on the motorway for 2.5 hours!
We dimmed the lights, and had a candle and chanted Om Shanti Shanti Shanti (is an invocation for peace) for about 5 minutes. Everyone felt the energy change and become calmer and more relaxed. The vibration built up as the sound reverberated around the room.
With mala beads, I offered a string of crystals to the group and all individually started to move the beads along its string from right to left. They are very tactile, and can be used in a number of ways.
1. Taking a breath in and out on each bead.
2. Using a word to calm and relax you, or to improve your health on each bead.
3. Using words to enhance your well being, each word or phrase being different for each bead.
4. Repeating your current affirmation.
Looking around the room as I had paused after explaining how these mala beads are used, I noticed that all were very chilled, very relaxed and continuing on through the 108 beads onto the next round.
These mala beads can be worn on the wrist or around the neck to remind people of their commitment to meditation on a daily basis, even if it is for just 5 minutes.
Using these beads shuts off the chatter in the mind, allows the breath and heart rate to slow, so that the body can reset itself, and rejuvenate.

At Jehandra, we offer a wide selection of holistic therapies - lets look at Chakra Balancing. We measure your energy levels before healing and afterwards to compare the readings. It's like putting yourself into a battery charger and seeing/feeling/sensing the energy levels rise within you, in a lovely calming, relaxing way.
We also take a reading of each of the chakras of the body to establish any weaknesses/over-activeness or imbalances that we may find there.
Chakras are energy vortexes that are within our energy field on the etheric, mental and emotional layers of our aura. The one we all recognise is the solar plexus, where we feel butterflies in our stomach when we are nervous or anxious. This is one of the main 7 chakras and we use these to look at the vibrancy of our health and wellbeing. In a full session, that lasts 60 minutes, we ask you to lie on our therapy bed, in a comfortable, warm, relaxing environment and we use Reiki to help the body heal itself and help it to get back into balance.
We have found all our clients to have increased in their energy levels, some feel lighter, cleansed, more relaxed and calm.

With school holidays upon us and thinking of travelling, I thought that I would share a recipe to reduce travel sickness, if you or a family member suffer from this. Travelling can be by car, bus, plane or boat. Whatever you're up to have a great time and don't let this sickness spoil your time away.

We are starting our new classes for meditation in June. It will be delivered here at Jehandra and numbers will be limited to groups of 5 people. It will be on a Tuesday evening and starts at 7.30pm and finishes at 8.30-9pm. These sessions will be for beginners and those who have practiced meditation but would like to sit in a group, for the extra energy and support. The meditation sessions are planned so that people can book 6 weeks at a time at a cost of £42.

Crystal balls each have differing clarity, patterns, natural flaws and inclusions, because they are made of natural crystal each one has its own individual energy and beauty.

Each of these crystal balls is unique and has it's own individual personality. They emit energy in all directions equally and once cleansed and programmed can be beautiful healers.

This selenite sphere, used as a crystal ball is an incredible tool. It can be used for meditation, healing and crystal gazing (also known as scrying). Crystal balls are said to produce visions when stared at for a long time, when you use a soft focus. The scientific explanation for this is that light reflected from a polished surface will eventually exhaust the eye's sensitive optic nerve so that it stops transmitting an external image. We went to Tenerife in February 2020, before the pandemic and was overwhelmed to see so many red hearts in the windows of most businesses and shops. The locals told us that they celebrate Valentines all week, where family and friend's love for each other is honourated, not just couples. This was something that extended out to us also, as holiday makers. It was a lovely atmosphere.

I have been replenishing the crystal description cards that we sell with our tumble stones. It looks like moonstone, red jasper and black onyx are the most popular stones for this month. I can see why, we all need a bit of balance and calm; we need the energy to move forward and detox after all the sweet treats we've been having over Christmas. Congratulations to these lovely people who passed their Reiki 1 course just before Christmas. From the pictures, you can see that the course was full of practical exercises as well as theory.
If you are interested in learning Reiki, we have Reiki 1 courses throughout the year. You can add your name to our waiting list, should you like to attend the next available course. Dates to be confirmed.
We are planning our next Reiki 2 course for the 15th of January. This is a two day course, where students will have the Reiki 2 attunements, basic training to prepare for and deliver Reiki to the public. This course is discounted at £200 as it would normally be £260. Only 8 places are available. You will receive training from Suzanne McGill, our Reiki Master Trainer who is also registered with the CNHC. The course meets the Reiki Council's National Occupational Standards for Reiki and you have the facilities and support required to complete the case studies required.
